The seeds of my soul sisters therapeutic yoga community were planted from a heart felt wish....
"If only she only had the mind body tools of meditation, therapeutic yoga, traditional Chinese medicine, breathwork, sound therapy and be part of community that accepted that not every day is a good one, there can be pain, anxiety, isolation as part of having an illness, BUT through nurturing connections and mind body practices she could have lessened her symptoms, pain and help her move towards comfort and healing."
Inspired by the loss of my bright and beautiful mother in 2014 after her long battle with Scleroderma, a progressive systemic autoimmune illness, I created the Soul Sisters therapeutic yoga community. This community supports many who are seeking relief from symptoms from physical or mental health challenges, curbing autoimmune flare ups, cancer recovery, healing and more than anything being part of a community that is warm and supportive.
Yoga can increase muscle strength and endurance, proprioception and balance, with emphasis on movement through a full range of motion to increase flexibility and mobility. Additional beneficial elements of yoga include breathing, relaxation, body awareness and meditation, which can reduce stress and anxiety and promote a sense of calmness, general well-being and improved quality of life. Yoga also encourages a meditative focus, increased body awareness and mindfulness; some evidence suggests yoga may help decrease inflammatory markers including C-reactive protein and interleukin-6.
Each class is a perfectly themed combination of Yin Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork, Acupressure and yoga teachings for improved health and well-being. No matter what you are seeking; healing from loss, working with anxiety or depression, managing and autoimmune illness (MS, Lyme, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc.) or cancer recovery; these groups are a nurturing, healing , supportive and fun experience. The goal of all my classes is to teach you how to elicit the Relaxation Response on your own so you can take it off your mat into your everyday life.
Because of COVID-19 and my student's immune suppression issues, these classes are offered both by ZOOM and LIVE for small group. If ZOOMing at home, props will make your practice safe, comfortable and meaningful! I recommend jumping onto the Yoga Direct website and purchase a set of your own a minimum (a mat, blanket and 2 blocks) , and 8 ft strap and a round bolster (small or big). We can also talk about substitutes for props as well!
