"MIND . BODY . PADDLE" USING MINDFULNESS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT TOOLS TO IMPROVE YOUR MATCH
I am an avid tennis and platform tennis player, and having been playing for almost 15 years. Because of my commitment to my yoga practice, I only play once or maybe twice a week, but I have truly watched my game evolve significantly, not just from pure technical skills I learned on the court, but rather from the mind/body practices I do regularly off the court.
I am a former marathon runner, and have been practicing yoga and meditation for almost 15 years. I am a 500-hour certified yoga instructor in therapeutic essentials, and instruct a myriad of styles of yoga with my favorite being a combination of Vinyasa flow (for strength and cardio) and mindful Yin yoga (for flexibiity). I am also a trained facilitator of the Benson Henry Instritute at Massachusetts General Hospital, SMART (Stress Management and Resiliency Training). I have been instructing yoga and meditation to high school tennis teams and adult private groups for several years, and am I delighted to offer now my one hour workshop, "Mind Games".
Mental toughness is key in tennis, and can be furthered by learning a variety of mind body techniques. "Mind Games" is a one hour workshop dedicated specifically to tennis and platform teams that helps players experience less anxiety, enhanced performance and more "flow".
Players learn to keep their "cool on the court" by exploring and understanding the concepts of the neurophysiology of stress and the relaxation response. They will also learn breathwork, how to a consistent mindfulness practice, enjoy meditations (via podcasts), and establishing prematch routines and rituals.
Overall, players will learn to manage pressure and stress better, reduce anxiety, focus better, and enhance their strategy and decision making skills, so they can take their game to next level and see greater results.
